Stitch-in-the-ditch
An invisible sewing technique used to sew through layers and attach the bottom layers without showing on top.
Complete your piecing using any of the piecing techniques desired. Layer the top over the batting and backing fabric. Place the blade of the edge joining foot in the seam and select a center straight stitch so the needle falls into the seam. Sew through all the layers.
Stitch-in-the-ditch is a technique that is used in many instances while you sew. Not only as a quilting technique or to apply binding to an edge, the technique can be used to sew down facings or attach linings.
